समन्तपञ्चक-आख्यानम् तथा अक्षौहिणी-प्रमाणनिर्णयः

Samantapañcaka Narrative and the Measure of an Akṣauhiṇī

पर्व दिग्विजयादूर्ध्व राजसूयिकमुच्यते । ततश्चार्धाभिहरणं शिशुपालवधस्तत:,तदनन्तर राजसूय, अर्घाभिहरण और शिशुपाल-वधपर्व कहे गये हैं

parva digvijayād ūrdhvaṁ rājasūyikam ucyate | tataś cārdhābhiharaṇaṁ śiśupālavadhas tataḥ |

Pagkaraan ng bahaging nagsasalaysay ng pananakop sa apat na panig (digvijaya), tumutuloy ang salaysay sa bahaging tinatawag na pag-aalay na Rājasūya. Sumunod ang yugto ng pag-aalay ng arghya—handog ng paggalang—at pagkatapos ay ang pagpaslang kay Śiśupāla. Ipinakikita ng pagkakasunod na ito kung paanong ang ambisyong panghari ay inilulugar sa balangkas ng ritwal, kung paanong ang nararapat na dangal ay hinahatulan sa harap ng madla, at kung paanong ang kayabangan at pagkapoot sa dharma ay humahantong sa tiyak na paghihiganti.
