Ādi Parva, Adhyāya 193 — Hastināpura Mantra: Duryodhana’s Proposals to Divide the Pāṇḍavas
/ ऑपनआक्रात बछ। अ-काज जा त्रिनवर्त्याधिकशततमो< ध्याय: पाण्डवों और कुन्तीका द्रपदके घरमें जाकर सम्मानित होना और राजा द्रुपदद्वारा पाण्डवोंके शील-स्वभावकी परीक्षा दूत उवाच जन्यार्थमन्नं द्रुपदेन राज्ञा विवाहहेतोरुपसंस्कृतं च | तदाप्रुवध्वं कृतसर्वकार्या: कृष्णां च तत्रैव चिरं न कार्यम्
dūta uvāca | janyārtham annaṁ drupadena rājñā vivāhahetor upasaṁskṛtaṁ ca | tad āpruvadhvaṁ kṛtasarvakāryāḥ kṛṣṇāṁ ca tatraiva ciraṁ na kāryam ||
Wika ng sugo: “Ipinahanda ni Haring Drupada ang pinakamainam na pagkain upang pakainin ang mga panauhin, at inayos na ang lahat na may pag-aasawa bilang layon. Kaya matapos ninyong tapusin ang kinakailangang pang-araw-araw na tungkulin, pumaroon kayo at makisalo. At dalhin din doon si Prinsesa Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī) para sa mga ritwal ng kasal—huwag mag-antala.”
दूत उवाच
The verse foregrounds dharma in social life: timely action, respect for ritual propriety, and the king’s duty of hospitality. It implies that auspicious rites (like marriage) should be conducted without procrastination and with due preparation.
A messenger conveys Drupada’s message that a feast has been prepared for the guests in connection with the marriage arrangements. The recipients are instructed to finish their daily obligations, come promptly, and bring Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī) for the wedding rites without delay.
