देवसत्रे मृत्युनिरोधः, पूर्वेन्द्राणां मानुषावतरणम्, द्रौपदी-वरकथनम्

इत्येवं चिन्तयामास सुतस्नेहावृता पृथा । ततः सुप्तजनप्राये दुर्दिने मेघसम्प्लुते

ity evaṁ cintayāmāsa sutasnehāvṛtā pṛthā | tataḥ suptajanaprāye durdine meghasamplute |

Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: Sa gayon, si Pṛthā (Kuntī), na nababalot ng pag-ibig sa mga anak, ay patuloy na umiikot sa gayong mga isipin. Pagkaraan, sa isang araw na madilim, nang ang langit ay nilamon ng mabibigat na ulap at ang mga tao, iniwan ang gawain, ay nakaupo nang walang kibo sa kani-kanilang bahay na wari’y natutulog, sa ikatlong bahagi ng araw ay pumasok doon si Arjuna—napalilibutan ng pangkat ng mga brāhmaṇa, na tulad ng araw na natatakpan ng ulap—sa bahay ng magpapalayok.
