Alms Distribution, Night Lodging, and Dhṛṣṭadyumna’s Report

Educational Q&A

Legitimate social transitions—especially marriage and the recognition of a victor—are to be affirmed through dharmic procedure and public, orderly proclamation. The verse highlights the ethical value of restraint (silence after clamor) and the authority of speech grounded in rite.

After the commotion in the svayaṃvara hall dies down, Dhṛṣṭadyumna stands at the center with Draupadī and formally announces the outcome in a deep, resonant voice, preparing the assembly for the next decisive statement about the marriage.
