Commencement of Draupadī’s Svayaṃvara
शापात् तस्य तु विप्रर्षेविश्वामित्रस्य चाज्ञया । राक्षस: किंकरो नाम विवेश नृपतिं तदा,ब्रह्मर्षि शक्तिके शाप तथा विश्वामित्रजीकी आज्ञासे किंकर नामक राक्षसने तब राजाके भीतर प्रवेश किया
śāpāt tasya tu viprarṣe viśvāmitrasya cājñayā | rākṣasaḥ kiṅkaro nāma viveśa nṛpatiṃ tadā ||
Dahil sa sumpang iyon at sa utos ng ermitanyong si Viśvāmitra, ang rākṣasa na nagngangalang Kiṅkara ay pumasok sa hari noon.
गन्धर्व उवाच
The verse highlights the moral causality and potency of ascetic speech: a curse (śāpa) and a sage’s command (ājñā) can decisively shape events, reminding rulers and listeners that ethical breaches invite consequences beyond ordinary human control.
A rākṣasa named Kiṅkara, acting under the force of a curse and Viśvāmitra’s directive, enters the king—indicating a takeover or possession that will drive the king’s subsequent actions according to the imposed supernatural influence.
