क्षत्रियस्यैव कुर्वाण: क्षत्रियो वधमोक्षणम् | विपुलां कीर्तिमाप्रोति लोके5स्मिं क्ष परत्र च,यदि क्षत्रिय किसी क्षत्रियको ही प्राणसंकटसे मुक्त कर दे तो वह इस लोक और परलोकमें भी महान् यशका भागी होता है
kṣatriyasyaiva kurvāṇaḥ kṣatriyo vadha-mokṣaṇam | vipulāṃ kīrtim āpnoti loke 'smin ca paratra ca ||
Sinabi ni Yudhiṣṭhira: “Kapag ang isang kṣatriya ay nagligtas sa kapwa kṣatriya mula sa panganib ng kamatayan, nagkakamit siya ng saganang karangalan—sa mundong ito at sa kabilang-buhay.”
युधिछिर उवाच
A kṣatriya’s dharma includes protecting others in mortal danger; rescuing a fellow warrior from death is praised as a righteous deed that brings honor in society and spiritual merit beyond this life.
Yudhiṣṭhira articulates a norm of warrior conduct: instead of seeking only victory or destruction, a kṣatriya should also uphold protection and deliverance, and such conduct is presented as worthy of great renown in both worlds.
