भीमस्य जलान्वेषणं तथा वनविश्रान्तिः
Bhīma’s Search for Water and the Forest Halt
अर्जुन उवाच सम्बन्धी कुरुवीराणां द्रुपदो राजसत्तम: । मा वधीस्तद्धलं भीम गुरुदानं प्रदीयताम्
arjuna uvāca — sambandhī kuruvīrāṇāṁ drupado rājasattamaḥ | mā vadhīs tadbalaṁ bhīma gurudānaṁ pradīyatām ||
Sinabi ni Arjuna: “O Bhima, si Haring Drupada—pinakamataas sa mga hari—ay kamag-anak ng mga bayani ng Kuru. Kaya huwag mong lipulin ang kaniyang mga kawal. Ibigay si Drupada mismo kay Droṇa bilang gurudakṣiṇā, ang handog na kabayaran sa guro.”
अर्जुन उवाच
Even in conflict, dharma requires restraint: avoid needless slaughter, honor kinship ties, and fulfill obligations—here, the guru’s due—through proportionate action rather than indiscriminate violence.
After defeating Drupada’s side, Bhima is inclined toward destroying the opposing force. Arjuna intervenes, noting Drupada’s connection to the Kuru heroes, and instructs that instead of massacring the army they should capture and deliver Drupada to Drona as gurudakṣiṇā.
