तुल्येष्वस्त्रोपदेशेषु सौष्ठवेन च वीर्यवान्‌ । एक: सर्वकुमाराणां बभूवातिरथो<र्जुन:,यद्यपि सबको समानरूपसे अस्त्र-विद्याका उपदेश प्राप्त होता था तो भी पराक्रमी अर्जुन अपनी विशिष्ट प्रतिभाके कारण अकेले ही समस्त कुमारोंमें अतिरथी हुए

tulyeṣv astropadeśeṣu sauṣṭhavena ca vīryavān | ekaḥ sarvakumārāṇāṃ babhūvātiratho 'rjunaḥ ||

Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: Bagama’t pantay na itinuro sa lahat ang agham ng mga sandata, si Arjuna na matapang—dahil sa kaniyang natatanging kahusayan—siya lamang ang naging atiratha sa lahat ng mga prinsipe. Ipinakikita ng talatang ito na ang pantay na pagkakataon ay hindi laging nagbubunga ng pantay na kinalabasan; ang disiplina, hinubog na kakayahan, at lakas sa loob ang nag-aangat sa isa tungo sa pambihirang pagkamaster.
