विश्रान्तेडथ गुरौ तस्मिन् पौत्रानादाय कौरवान् | शिष्यत्वेन ददौ भीष्मो वसूनि विविधानि च
viśrānte 'tha gurau tasmin pautrān ādāya kauravān | śiṣyatvena dadau bhīṣmo vasūni vividhāni ca ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: Nang makapagpahinga na ang gurong iyon, dinala ni Bhīṣma ang mga apo ng angkang Kuru at pormal na ipinagkatiwala sila sa kanya bilang mga alagad; at nagkaloob din siya ng sari-saring kayamanan.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharma in education: a guardian must place heirs under a competent teacher and honor the guru with appropriate gifts, expressing gratitude and ensuring disciplined training.
After the preceptor has rested, Bhīṣma takes the Kuru princes (the grandsons/descendants of the Kuru line) and formally hands them over to the guru as disciples, additionally offering various forms of wealth as honorarium.
