नान्ध: कुरूणां नृपतिरनुरूपस्तपोधन । ज्ञातिवंशस्य गोप्तारं पितृणां वंशवर्धनम्‌

Transliteration

nāndhaḥ kurūṇāṁ nṛpatir anurūpas tapodhana | jñātivaṁśasya goptāraṁ pitṝṇāṁ vaṁśavardhanam ||

Translation

Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: “O tapodhana, ikaw na mayaman sa pag-aayuno at pagninilay! Hindi nararapat sa mga Kuru ang isang haring bulag—ang dapat ay tagapangalaga ng angkan ng mga kamag-anak at tagapagpalago ng lahi ng mga ninuno.”
