मानुषेषु भवत्वेका जरारोगविवर्जिता । एतन्मम महाभाग कर्तुमर्हस्यनिन्दित,'सुरश्रेष्ठ आप पुण्यकी वृद्धि करनेवाले हैं। इस गायको शीघ्र ले आइये। मानद! जिससे इसका दूध पीकर मेरी वह सखी मनुष्यलोकमें अकेली ही जरावस्था एवं रोग- व्याधिसे बची रहे। महाभाग! आप निन्दारहित हैं; मेरे इस मनोरथको पूर्ण कीजिये
mānuṣeṣu bhavatvekā jarārogavivarjitā | etanmama mahābhāga kartumarhasyanindita ||
Sinabi ni Vaiśampāyana: “Sa gitna ng mga tao, nawa’y siya lamang ang maging malaya sa katandaan at karamdaman. O mapalad at marangal, ikaw na walang kapintasan, nararapat mong isakatuparan ang hangaring ito.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical impulse to seek well-being for another—requesting a boon not for power or dominance, but for freedom from suffering (old age and disease), and appealing to the addressee’s blamelessness and capacity to fulfill a righteous wish.
Within Vaiśampāyana’s narration, a request is voiced that a particular woman should uniquely remain free from aging and illness among humans, and the addressed noble, blameless figure is urged to bring about (grant/arrange) that desired outcome.
