Suta Goswami (narrating an internal admonition within the Purana’s dialogue context)
It frames Linga-worship as inner purification: without dissolving ahaṅkāra (ego), devotion becomes noise, and the bound soul (paśu) misuses even sacred grace.
By implication, Shiva as Pati is the liberator from pāśa (bondage) like pride; the verse contrasts Shiva’s purifying order with the ego-driven disorder of the asādhu.
A key Pāśupata-Yoga takeaway: subdue ego and boastfulness through discipline, self-restraint, and devotion—otherwise external acts of puja do not transform the paśu.
