Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimisharanya)
It authorizes regular monthly Linga-oriented worship on Ashtami and Chaturdashi, presenting these tithis as time-tested observances upheld by Veda-knowing brahmins and accomplished tapasvins.
By implying that worship on these sacred tithis is endorsed by the spiritually perfected, it frames Shiva as Pati—the liberating Lord—whose grace and rite-bound devotion help the pashu move beyond pāśa (bondage).
A monthly vrata discipline centered on the lunar days Ashtami and Chaturdashi—typical Shaiva practice supporting inner purification aligned with Pashupata-style restraint and devotion.
