व्यपोहनस्तवनिरूपण-प्रसङ्गे नक्तभोजन-शिवव्रतविधिः (वार्षिक-प्रतिमास-क्रमः)
सत्यवादी जितक्रोधः शालिगोधूमगोरसैः पक्षयोरष्टमीं यत्नाद् उपवासेन वर्तयेत्
satyavādī jitakrodhaḥ śāligodhūmagorasaiḥ pakṣayoraṣṭamīṃ yatnād upavāsena vartayet
Ang deboto—tapat sa katotohanan at nagwagi sa galit—ay dapat maingat na tuparin ang Aṣṭamī ng dalawang kalahati ng buwan sa pamamagitan ng pag-aayuno, na tanging bigas, trigo, at mga kaloob ng baka lamang ang ikabubuhay. Sa ganitong disiplinadong pagpipigil, ang paśu ay nalilinis mula sa pāśa at nagiging karapat-dapat sa biyaya ni Śiva (Pati).
