Linga Purana — Purva Bhaga, Shloka 66

वासिष्ठकथनम् (आदित्य–सोमवंशवर्णनम् तथा रुद्रसहस्रनाम-प्रशंसा)

मन्त्रवित्परमो मन्त्रः सर्वभावकरो हरः कमण्डलुधरो धन्वी बाणहस्तः कपालवान्

mantravitparamo mantraḥ sarvabhāvakaro haraḥ kamaṇḍaludharo dhanvī bāṇahastaḥ kapālavān

Si Śiva ang nakaaalam ng mga mantra at ang Kataas-taasang Mantra mismo; Siya si Hara, ang nagpapalabas ng lahat ng kalagayan ng pag-iral. Taglay ang kamaṇḍalu ng asetiko, Siya rin ang mamamana—may hawak na busog at palaso—ngunit lagi ring tagapasan ng bungo, ang Panginoong nagwawaksi ng gapos para sa paśu (kaluluwa).
