Surya and Related Abhisheka/ Cosmological Determinations

FAQs

It frames the Moon (Soma) as a sustaining cosmic agency; in Linga worship, such cosmic supports are understood as functioning under Shiva (Pati), so honoring the Linga aligns the worshipper (pashu) with dharma and cosmic rhythm.

Though Shiva is not named directly, the verse implies an ordered cosmos where Soma nourishes beings; in Shaiva Siddhanta this sustaining order is ultimately dependent on Pati, the supreme Lord who empowers all devatās and their functions.

It supports timing rites with the bright lunar cycle (śukla-pakṣa) and Soma-related offerings for Pitṛs and Devas; yogically, it points to maintaining inner “gharma” (vital heat/prāṇa) in harmony with cosmic cycles.
