Adhyaya 33: Pashupata Conduct, Bhasma-Vrata, and Shiva’s Boon to the Sages
Suta Goswami (narrating the teaching/tradition of Mahadeva-oriented ascetic worship)
It frames true worship of Mahādeva as not merely external offering, but as disciplined Linga-oriented devotion supported by restraint of vāk (speech), manas (mind), and kāya (body).
Śiva is presented as Mahādeva, the supreme Pati (Lord) who is approached through steady devotion and inner purification—showing that Shiva-tattva is realized through controlled conduct and focused worship.
It highlights ūrdhva-retas discipline (brahmacarya with sublimation of vital energy) and tri-karaṇa-saṁyama—control of speech, mind, and body—central to ascetic Shaiva/Pāśupata-style worship.
