This verse states that one’s proper duty should be authoritatively determined—either by qualified Vedic-Dharma experts or by an accomplished knower of the Self—showing svadharma as a central standard for right conduct.
By emphasizing correct determination of dharma, it implies that one’s actions aligned with svadharma shape karmic outcomes, which in Garuda Purana’s broader framework influence post-death trajectory and spiritual progress.
When unsure about moral or ritual duty, consult competent tradition-grounded teachers or elders; if guided by deep spiritual discernment, choose the course that best aligns with dharma, responsibility, and inner integrity.
