Hari-Pūjā: Puruṣa-sūkta, Bhakti-Supremacy, and Consequences of Neglect

Lord Vishnu (in instruction to Garuda/Vinata-putra)

Concept: Minimal offerings (even water) offered with devotion are valid; the Lord rewards with His own loka—therefore neglect is irrational.

Vedantic Theme: Bhakti independent of external upādhis; īśvara-anugraha outweighs material capacity; inner śraddhā is primary.

Application: If resources are limited, offer arghya/ācamanīya water with mantra and sincere intent; maintain consistency over grandeur.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Related Themes: Garuda Purana: repeated valuation of śraddhā over opulence in arcana; Garuda Purana: promises of Viṣṇu-loka for devoted worshippers

FAQs

This verse teaches that sincere devotion is not blocked by poverty or lack of ritual items; even simple water-offering can constitute valid worship when done with faith.

By emphasizing worship of the Lord who grants “His own realm,” the verse links bhakti to the highest post-death destination—attaining the divine abode rather than lower afterlife states.

Maintain consistent daily worship with whatever is available—clean water, a simple prayer, and ethical conduct—rather than postponing devotion until ideal resources appear.
