Varāha-avatāra: The Boar Incarnation Lifts the Earth and Slays Hiraṇyākṣa
तद्विधेहि नमस्तुभ्यं कर्मस्वीड्यात्मशक्तिषु । यत्कृत्वेह यशो विष्वगमुत्र च भवेद्गति: ॥ ८ ॥
tad vidhehi namas tubhyaṁ karmasv īḍyātma-śaktiṣu yat kṛtveha yaśo viṣvag amutra ca bhaved gatiḥ
O Kagalang-galang na Panginoon, sumasamba kami sa Iyo. Pakiituro ang paraan ng pagtupad sa tungkulin ayon sa aming kakayahan, upang sa buhay na ito ay magtamo ng banal na dangal at sa susunod ay mabuting hantungan.
Brahmā is the direct recipient of Vedic knowledge from the Personality of Godhead, and anyone discharging his entrusted duties in disciplic succession from Brahmā is sure to gain fame in this life and salvation in the next. The disciplic succession from Brahmā is called the Brahma sampradāya, and it descends as follows: Brahmā, Nārada, Vyāsa, Madhva Muni (Pūrṇaprajña), Padmanābha, Nṛhari, Mādhava, Akṣobhya, Jayatīrtha, Jñānasindhu, Dayānidhi, Vidyānidhi, Rājendra, Jayadharma, Puruṣottama, Brahmaṇyatīrtha, Vyāsatīrtha, Lakṣmīpati, Mādhavendra Purī, Īśvara Purī, Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, Svarūpa Dāmodara and Śrī Rūpa Gosvāmī and others, Śrī Raghunātha dāsa Gosvāmī, Kṛṣṇadāsa Gosvāmī, Narottama dāsa Ṭhākura, Viśvanātha Cakravartī, Jagannātha dāsa Bābājī, Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, Gaurakiśora dāsa Bābājī, Śrīmad Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī, A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami.
It teaches that the Lord’s praiseworthy activities and energies should be honored and prayed to; such divine deeds spread His fame everywhere and lead living beings to the highest destination beyond this life.
In the Varaha-avatara context, Brahma depends on Vishnu to set things right in cosmic affairs; he prays for the Lord’s action, knowing that Vishnu’s deeds benefit the universe and grant ultimate good to souls.
By regularly hearing, chanting, and sharing the Lord’s pastimes and attributes, and by praying for divine guidance—cultivating devotion that purifies one’s goals and turns life toward the highest spiritual destination.
