Verse 5

Katharudra

कुण्डिकां चमसं शिक्यं त्रिविष्टमुपानहौ । शीतोपघातिनीं कन्थां कौपीनाच्छादनं तथा ॥

पवित्रं ज्ञानशाटीं च उत्तरासङ्गमेव च । यज्ञोपवीतं वेदांश्च सर्वं तद्वर्जयेद्यतिः ॥

स्नानं पानं तथा शौचमद्भिः पूताभिराचरेत् । नदीपुलिनशायी स्याद्देवागारेषु वा स्वपेत् ॥

नात्यर्थं सुखदुःखाभ्यां शरीरमुपतायेत् । स्तूयमानो न तुषेत निन्दितो न शपेत्परान् ॥५-८॥

पवित्रम् । ज्ञान-शाटीम् । च । उत्तर-आसङ्गम् । एव । च । यज्ञोपवीतम् । वेदान् । च । सर्वम् । तत् । वर्जयेत् । यतिः ।

स्नानम् । पानम् । तथा । शौचम् । अद्भिः । पूताभिः । आचरेत् ।

नदी-पुलिन-शायी । स्यात् । देव-आगारेषु । वा । स्वपेत् ।

न । अत्यर्थम् । सुख-दुःखाभ्याम् । शरीरम् । उपतायेत् ।

स्तूयमानः । न । तुषेत् । निन्दितः । न । शपेत् । परान् ।

kuṇḍikāṃ camasaṃ śikyaṃ trivīṣṭam upānahau | śītopaghātinīṃ kanthāṃ kaupīnācchādanaṃ tathā ||

pavitraṃ jñāna-śāṭīṃ ca uttarāsaṅgam eva ca | yajñopavītaṃ vedāṃś ca sarvaṃ tad varjayet yatiḥ ||

snānaṃ pānaṃ tathā śaucam adbhiḥ pūtābhir ācaret | nadī-pulina-śāyī syād devāgāreṣu vā svapet ||

nātyarthaṃ sukha-duḥkhābhyāṃ śarīram upatāyet | stūyamāno na tuṣet nindito na śapet parān ||5–8||

หม้อน้ำ บาตร ถุงสะพาย ไม้เท้าสามง่าม (ตรีทัณฑ์) และรองเท้า; ผ้าคลุมกันหนาว และผ้าเตี่ยวเป็นเครื่องนุ่งห่ม—สิ่งเหล่านี้. หญ้าหรือแหวนชำระ (ปวิตร) ผ้าแห่งญาณ และผ้าคลุมไหล่; สายสิญจน์/ยัชโญปวีต และพระเวท—ยติพึงละทั้งหมดนั้น. การอาบ การดื่ม และการชำระกาย พึงทำด้วยน้ำที่บริสุทธิ์แล้ว. พึงนอนที่ตลิ่งแม่น้ำ หรือหลับในเทวสถาน. ไม่พึงตามใจร่างกายเกินควรด้วยสุขหรือทุกข์. เมื่อถูกสรรเสริญไม่พึงยินดี; เมื่อถูกติเตียนไม่พึงสาปแช่งผู้อื่น

A water-pot, a bowl, a sling (for carrying), a triple staff, and sandals; a cloak protecting from cold, and a loincloth as covering—(these). A purifier (ring/grass), a knowledge-cloth, and an upper garment; the sacred thread and the Vedas—let the renunciant abandon all that. Bathing, drinking, and cleansing he should perform with purified water. He should lie on a riverbank, or sleep in temples. He should not excessively coddle the body through pleasure and pain. When praised he should not be delighted; when blamed he should not curse others.
