(Bhairavāvatāra-varṇanam) — “Description of the Descent/Manifestation of Bhairava”
sarvvago'pi maheśāno nekṣyate mūḍhabuddhibhiḥ | devavad budhyate loke yo'tīto manasāṃ girām
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Role: teaching
It teaches that Shiva as Pati is all-pervading yet not grasped by confused intellect; realization requires purification of understanding and devotion, not merely conceptual thinking.
Linga-worship supports the seeker in approaching the transcendent Shiva through a sacred form; the verse cautions that treating Shiva as only a worldly “deva” misses His supreme, beyond-mind reality.
Steady japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with inner contemplation on Shiva’s all-pervasiveness helps remove mūḍha-buddhi and turns worship into realization.
