The verse highlights śaraṇāgati (taking refuge) through nāma-smaraṇa—repeating “Śiva” with devotion—showing that even in fear, turning the mind to Pati (Śiva) becomes a direct support for protection and inner steadiness.
By repeatedly invoking “Śiva,” the devotee approaches Saguna Śiva through name and remembrance; in Kotirudrasaṃhitā’s devotional frame, such invocation naturally aligns with Jyotirliṅga/Liṅga-bhakti as a concrete refuge for the mind.
Practice japa and nāma-smaraṇa—mentally or verbally repeating “Śiva” or the Pañcākṣarī ‘Om Namaḥ Śivāya’—especially during distress, as a quick, Shaiva-approved meditative refuge.
