The verse highlights that sincere prayer (bhakti) joined with purposeful endeavor (yatna) becomes a valid means for fulfilling dharmic aims, with Shiva as the inner bestower of grace when the intention is aligned with righteousness.
By portraying prayer directed to one’s lord as a living relationship of devotion, it reflects Saguna Shiva worship—approaching Shiva as compassionate and responsive—often expressed in Purana practice through Linga-puja, vows, and regular supplication.
Regular, disciplined prayer as a vow (nitya-prārthanā) is implied; in Shaiva practice this commonly aligns with daily Linga worship, japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), and observances undertaken with clear intent.
