FAQs

The verse highlights how krodha (anger) and kuṭila-āśaya (crooked intention) distort judgment and lead one away from dharma; in Shaiva understanding, inner purity and right intention are essential for Shiva-bhakti to mature into grace (anugraha).

Kotirudra contexts emphasize that external acts—pilgrimage, praise, or social standing—are incomplete without sincere bhāva; Linga-worship of Saguna Shiva bears fruit when approached with humility rather than resentment and blame.

A practical takeaway is to begin Shiva-puja or Jyotirlinga darśana with purification of intent—japa of the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and calmness of mind—so anger does not contaminate worship.
