ओंकार-परमेश-लिङ्गकथा — The Narrative of the Oṃkāra Parameśa Liṅga
Gokarṇa–Vindhya Episode
मयि सर्वं विद्यते च न न्यूनं हि कदाचन । इति भावं समास्थाय संस्थितो नारदाग्रतः
mayi sarvaṃ vidyate ca na nyūnaṃ hi kadācana | iti bhāvaṃ samāsthāya saṃsthito nāradāgrataḥ
Suta Goswami (narrating the account to the sages; the verse describes a devotee’s/ascetic’s inner stance before Narada)
Tattva Level: pashu
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga passage; it presents an inner stance of self-sufficiency that becomes the object of Nārada’s humbling instruction.
Significance: Teaches that the bound soul’s claim of completeness can be a form of āṇava-mala (egoic contraction); pilgrimage lesson is inner: replace self-sufficiency with Śiva-dependence (śaraṇāgati).
It teaches the Shaiva attitude of pūrṇatā (inner fullness): when one abides in the awareness of the Self upheld by Shiva’s grace, the sense of deficiency falls away, producing steadiness and fearlessness.
Linga-worship trains the devotee to see Shiva as the all-supporting Reality; this verse reflects that ripened devotion—standing before a sage (Nārada) with the settled conviction that nothing is lacking when one is established in Shiva.
A simple takeaway is dhyāna with japa: repeat the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) while cultivating the bhāva, “Shiva is complete; by His presence in me, I lack nothing,” until the mind becomes saṁsthita (steady).
