Sthala Purana: After Chandra’s affliction and penance, the devas and ṛṣis establish (sthāpya) Chandra at Prabhāsa, sanctifying the site where Śiva’s grace restores the Moon; Prabhāsa becomes famed as Soma’s place and the Somnātha liṅga’s kṣetra.
Significance: Darśana at Prabhāsa–Somnātha is held to relieve lunar afflictions, cleanse sins, and stabilize mind and vitality through Śiva’s anugraha.
It highlights that sacred action performed with a purified heart (nirmalāśaya) culminates in harmony and auspicious completion—after establishing Candra at the holy Prabhāsa, the devas and ṛṣis depart in joy, indicating the fruit of dharma aligned with Shiva’s tirtha-glory.
Kotirudra Saṃhitā centers on tirthas and Jyotirliṅga sanctity; Prabhāsa is approached as a Shaiva sacred field where divine order is restored. Establishing Candra in such a kṣetra reflects Saguna Shiva’s grace operating through place, rite, and pilgrimage—devotion expressed via sacred geography linked to the Liṅga tradition.
A practical takeaway is tīrtha-yātrā with inner purification: visit a Shaiva kṣetra like Prabhāsa, worship Shiva with a clean intention, and accompany it with japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and simple abhiṣeka, cultivating nirmalatā (purity) before concluding one’s vows and returning home.
