FAQs

It teaches that Shiva-worship is both inner and outer purification: mantra (salutation to Rudra and Kāla) aligns the mind with Shiva as Lord of grace and Time, while ācamana and consecrated offerings cultivate ritual purity and devotional focus.

The verse is a direct pūjā-instruction: after purifying oneself, the devotee honors Saguna Shiva through specific names—Rudra (the remover of impurity) and Kāla (the Lord of Time)—and offers gandha as an upacāra (service) to the Linga/manifest form.

Perform ācamana with mindfulness, then recite “rudrāya namaḥ” and “kālāya namaḥ,” and offer clean, well-prepared sandal paste (gandha). Meditatively, contemplate Shiva as Rudra who purifies and as Kāla who transcends time.
