Suta Goswami (narrating the Kailasha teachings to the sages, presenting a stotra-style verse)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Mantra: चतुर्भुजाय शान्ताय शक्तिकुक्कुट धारिणे । वरदाय विहस्ताय नमोऽसुरविदारिणे
Type: stotra
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: liberating
Offering: pushpa
It praises Saguna Shiva as simultaneously śānta (inner stillness) and asura-vidāri (destroyer of obstructive forces), teaching that divine peace is not passive—it protects the devotee by cutting ignorance and hostility that bind the soul (pāśa).
Though the Linga points to Nirguna reality, this verse focuses on Shiva’s accessible Saguna aspect—qualities like boon-giving and protection—supporting bhakti worship that culminates in realizing Shiva beyond form.
Recite the verse as a namaskāra-stotra alongside japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), meditating on Shiva’s raised hand as abhaya (fearlessness) and vara (boon), asking for removal of inner “asuric” tendencies such as anger, pride, and delusion.
