ऊचुस्संश्रवणेयेमांद्विजाःकार्तान्तिकाश्शुभाम् ।तेऽद्यसर्वेहतेरामेज्ञानिनोऽनृतवादिनः ।।।।

ūcuḥ saṃśravaṇe ye māṃ dvijāḥ kārtāntikāḥ śubhām |

te 'dya sarve hate rāme jñānino 'nṛtavādinaḥ ||

ข้าพเจ้าเคยได้ยินจากพราหมณ์ทวิชะและโหรผู้ทำนายชะตาอันเป็นมงคลแก่ข้าพเจ้า; หากวันนี้พระรามถูกสังหารแล้วไซร้ ท่านทั้งหลาย—ผู้ได้ชื่อว่าเป็นบัณฑิต—ก็ล้วนกล่าวเท็จ
