Vibhīṣaṇa’s Arrival and the Debate on Refuge
इत्युक्त्वापरुषंवाक्यंरावणंरावणानुजः ।आजगाममुहूर्तेनयत्ररामस्सलक्ष्मणः ।।6.17.1।।
ityuktvā paruṣaṃ vākyaṃ rāvaṇaṃ rāvaṇānujaḥ |
ājagāma muhūrtena yatra rāmaḥ salakṣmaṇaḥ ||
ครั้นกล่าวถ้อยคำอันแข็งกร้าวต่อทศกัณฐ์แล้ว วิภีษณะน้องชายของเขาก็ไปถึงในชั่วครู่ ณ ที่ซึ่งพระศรีรามประทับพำนักพร้อมพระลักษมณ์
Vibheeshana, having addressed Ravana in harsh language, reached Rama and Lakshmana in a short while.
The epithet 'Ravananuja' (Ravana's younger brother) emphasizes the severing of deep familial bonds in favor of Dharma. Despite being a brother, he leaves due to the ethical conflict.
These refer to the truthful but unpalatable advice Vibhishana gave Ravana regarding returning Sita. In the context of Dharma, speaking the bitter truth is considered a duty of a minister or well-wisher, even if it leads to separation.
