eṣa rāmānujaḥ prāptas tvatsakāśam arindama (4.31.33) | bhrātur vyasana-santapto dvāri tiṣṭhati lakṣmaṇaḥ | tasya vākyaṃ yadi ruciḥ kriyatāṃ sādhu vānara (4.31.34) | ity uktvā śīghram āgaccha vatsa vākyam arindama ||
'O subduer of enemies speak in this way: 'Lakshmana, the dear younger brother of Rama has come to you and waits for your presence at the entrance, burning in grief of his elder brother. Well, if you like to hear his words, do as you please.' 'Return swiftly after saying so.'
Even in variant transmission, the dharmic emphasis remains: a ruler must meet a just claimant, hear him, and act in accordance with pledged duty.
A repeated/continued recitation of Lakshmana’s message to be delivered to Sugriva via Angada.
Adherence to proper procedure (maryādā) in royal communication despite emotional intensity.
