O my beautiful beloved, stay, stay ! Have you no compassion for me ? You are so fond of fun. Why do you avoid me?
The verse foregrounds compassion (dayā/karuṇā) within relationships as a dharmic expectation—Rāma appeals to mercy as a moral bond between spouses.
Rāma, distraught, speaks as though Sītā is intentionally avoiding him, revealing the intensity of his confusion and longing.
Emotional sincerity: he does not mask grief; he expresses it plainly, showing the human dimension of the righteous hero.
