Concept: Śravaṇa with śraddhā and bhakti—especially repeated listening—prevents preta-birth; inner disposition is the decisive catalyst of Purāṇic merit.

Application: Listen regularly to dharma-kathā (live or recorded) with focused attention; cultivate faith through consistency rather than novelty.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: karuna

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A circle of listeners sits in stillness as a storyteller recites; the air seems to clear, and shadowy preta-forms at the edge dissolve into soft light. The focus is on faces—eyes closed in faith, hands folded—showing that repeated listening itself becomes a bridge from fear to peace.","primary_figures":["storyteller/reciter","devotee listeners","shadowy pretas dissolving (symbolic)"],"setting":"Āśrama courtyard or temple mandapa with a low dais, lamp, and hanging garlands.","lighting_mood":"forest dappled","color_palette":["leaf green","marigold orange","warm ochre","smoke gray","ivory"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: temple mandapa with gold-leaf pillars; central reciter with halo; listeners in symmetrical rows; shadowy pretas at margins turning into gold-outlined serene forms; rich reds/greens, embossed gold for garlands and lamp flames.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: intimate satsang under a tree; delicate shading on attentive faces; soft gray shadows at the periphery fading; cool greens and gentle ochres, lyrical naturalism and refined expressions.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: bold outlines, patterned floor and pillars; expressive eyes of listeners; symbolic pretas as dark silhouettes dissolving into yellow-red aura; strong red/yellow/green palette.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: ornate floral border; central katha scene with decorative lotuses; peacocks perched on pillars; deep blue background with gold highlights; symbolic shadows at edges transformed into floral gold motifs."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"devotional","suggested_raga":"Bhupali","pace":"slow-meditative","voice_tone":"serene","sound_elements":["soft mridanga pulse","temple bells","incense crackle","birds at dusk","silence between verses"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: वाप्यभीक्ष्णं = वा + अपि + अभीक्ष्णम् (अपि → प्य् before vowel); परयान्वितः = परया + अन्वितः (आ + अ → आ).

FAQs

It states that repeatedly listening with supreme faith (śraddhā) and devotion (bhakti) yields spiritual protection and auspicious post-death outcomes.

It explicitly makes devotion (bhakti), together with faith, the decisive inner qualification that transforms the act of listening into a spiritually potent practice.

Cultivate sincere faith and devotion and engage regularly in śravaṇa (listening); inner disposition matters, and consistent devotional receptivity is presented as a safeguard against an inauspicious afterlife state.
