एवमुक्तास्तदा तेन देवास्तं मुनिमब्रुवन् । इच्छाम एकं वरमद्भुतं वयं पिबार्णवं देवमुने महात्मन्

ครั้นถูกท่านกล่าวเช่นนั้น เหล่าเทพจึงทูลแก่มุนีว่า “โอ้ฤๅษีทิพย์ โอ้มหาตมัน เราปรารถนาพรอัศจรรย์ประการหนึ่ง—ขอท่านดื่มมหาสมุทรให้สิ้น”
