The Churning of the Ocean

कालकूटविषं ते तु दृष्ट्वा सर्वे प्रदुद्रुवुः । ततस्तान्विद्रुतान्दृष्ट्वा शंकरश्चोक्तवानिदम्
kālakūṭaviṣaṃ te tu dṛṣṭvā sarve pradudruvuḥ | tatastānvidrutāndṛṣṭvā śaṃkaraścoktavānidam
แต่เมื่อเห็นพิษกาลกูฏะ ทุกผู้ต่างแตกตื่นหนีไป ครั้นแล้วพระศังกระเห็นพวกเขาวิ่งหนี จึงตรัสถ้อยคำนี้

The verse states that “all” who saw the Kālakūṭa poison fled—indicating the assembled beings present at the event (commonly understood in the churning narrative as devas and others).
Śaṅkara observes everyone fleeing and is introduced as the one who will speak next—signaling his leadership and response to the crisis caused by the poison.
The scene contrasts panic and avoidance with the emergence of responsible action: when others run from danger, a steadier figure steps forward to address it.
