Sandhi Resolution Notes: एवमुक्त्वा = एवम् उक्त्वा.
The speakers are the king’s messengers (dūtāḥ), addressing an elderly, wise person they are expected to escort.
After expressing that they cannot take the aged and wise person with them, the messengers leave and return to the king’s city.
It highlights practical judgment and concern for suitability—recognizing limits in carrying out orders when circumstances (age/fitness) make an action inappropriate.
