शान्तिं परां प्राप्प यदा स्थितो भू- रुत्सृज्य बाणांश्व धनुर्विचित्रम् । “पितामह! यह आपके हाथसे कैसे बच गया? आप इसे इस प्रकार मथ डालिये
vaiśampāyana uvāca | śāntiṃ parāṃ prāpya yadā sthito bhūr utsṛjya bāṇāṃś ca dhanur vicitram |
เมื่อเขาทิ้งศรและคันธนูอันวิจิตร แล้วล้มแน่นิ่งดุจจมลงในความสงบลึกบนพื้นดินจนหมดสติ ภีษมะโอรสแห่งศานตนุจึงหัวเราะแล้วกล่าวแก่ทุรโยธน์ว่า “ข้าแต่ราชัน! ครั้นเจ้าละทิ้งคันธนูและศรอันรุ่งเรือง แล้วนอนอยู่ที่นี่ในความมืดมนแห่งความหลงใหลนั้น ปัญญาของเจ้าอยู่ที่ใด? และความกล้าหาญของเจ้าอยู่ที่ใด?”
