Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharma in governance and family life: a king should heed rightful counsel (even from his daughter) and perform social duties—such as arranging marriage—through proper, sanctioned rites (vidhi-pūrvam), thereby maintaining moral and ritual order.

Lomaśa narrates to Yudhiṣṭhira that King Soḍa, persuaded by his daughter’s request, formally gives his daughter Lopāmudrā in marriage to the sage Agastya, following correct ritual procedure.
