ततो<ब्रवीद् देवराज: पार्थमक्लिष्टकारिणम् । सान्त्वयःश्लक्ष्णया वाचा मेघदुन्दुभिनि:स्वन:,तदनन्तर देवराज इन्द्रने अनायास ही महान् कर्म करनेवाले कुन्तीकुमार अर्जुनको मीठे वचनोंद्वारा सान्त्वना देते हुए मेघ और दुन्दुभिके समान गम्भीर स्वरसे कहा--

ครั้นแล้วเทวราชอินทร์ ผู้มีสุรเสียงกังวานดุจเมฆครืนและกลองทุนนุภี ได้ปลอบประโลมปารถะ—โอรสแห่งกุนตี ผู้กระทำมหากิจโดยไม่ย่อท้อ—ด้วยวาจาอ่อนหวาน แล้วตรัสว่า—
