Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic attentiveness in everyday life: genuine devotion expresses itself as practical care—sharing labor, anticipating risk, and safeguarding another’s well-being (yogakṣema) without abandoning one’s duties.

In Mārkaṇḍeya’s narration of Sāvitrī’s story, Sāvitrī addresses her husband (Satyavān in the broader episode), arranging the next day’s work: he will carry the fruits, while she will carry the axe to ensure his safety and welfare.
