Kuntī’s concealed childbirth and the river-borne casket
tāṃ māyāṃ vikṛtāṃ dṛṣṭvā daśagrīvasya rakṣasaḥ
The verse highlights māyā as a force that distorts perception; ethically, it points to how adharma often operates through deception, and why clear discernment is necessary to avoid being led by appearances.
Mārkaṇḍeya narrates that the rākṣasas witness a strange, transformed illusion associated with Daśagrīva (Rāvaṇa), setting up a scene where supernatural deception influences events and reactions.
