Mārkaṇḍeya

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights kṣātra (warrior) ethos: decisive action in battle and the moral emphasis on personal exertion (yatna) as the means by which outcomes are achieved.

Mārkaṇḍeya describes a battle episode in which a warrior, powerful through his chariot, slays hundreds; he then frames the result as brought about through strenuous effort in the combat.
