ity evaṁ paribhartsantīs trāsyamānā punaḥ punaḥ | bhartaśokasamāviṣṭā niḥśvasyedam uvāca tāḥ ||
The verse highlights how grief can overwhelm a person, yet even under intimidation and harsh reproach one may still respond through deliberate speech—suggesting the ethical importance of restraint and articulation amid emotional distress.
Some women (or a group of female speakers) repeatedly scold and try to frighten a grieving woman. Overcome with sorrow for her husband, she sighs and begins to reply to them, marking a transition into her forthcoming speech.
