एष ते वामनो नाम प्रादुर्भाव: प्रकीर्तित: । तेन देवा: प्रादुरासन्‌ वैष्णवं चोच्यते जगत्‌,“यह मैंने तुम्हें भगवान्‌के वामनावतारकी बात बतायी है। उन्हींसे देवताओंकी उत्पत्ति हुई है। यह जगत्‌ भी भगवान्‌ विष्णुसे प्रकट होनेके कारण वैष्णव कहलाता है

eṣa te vāmano nāma prādurbhāvaḥ prakīrtitaḥ | tena devāḥ prādurāsan vaiṣṇavaṃ cocyate jagat ||

ดังนี้เราได้เล่าแก่ท่านถึงการอวตารที่มีนามว่า “วามนะ” จากพระองค์นั้นเองเหล่าเทวะได้บังเกิด และเพราะโลกทั้งปวงนี้อุบัติจากพระวิษณุ จึงได้ชื่อว่า “ไวษณวะ” คือเป็นของและสังกัดพระวิษณุ
