janamejaya uvāca | śatru-bhir jita-baddhasya pāṇḍavaiś ca mahātmabhiḥ | mokṣitasya yudhā paścān māninaḥ su-durātmanaḥ ||

ชนเมชัยตรัสว่า—“ข้าแต่พราหมณ์! เมื่อทุรโยธนะ ผู้โอหังและมีจิตชั่ว ถูกศัตรูพิชิตและจับมัดไว้ แล้วภายหลังมหาตมะปาณฑพทั้งหลายได้ทำศึกจนปลดปล่อยเขาแล้ว ต่อจากนั้นเกิดเหตุอันใด? เขาดำเนินต่อไปอย่างไร และด้วยเจตนาใด?”
