कि चाप्यधिकमेतस्माद् यदापन्न: सुयोधन: । त्वदूबाहुबलमाश्रित्य जीवितं परिमार्गते,“तुम्हारे लिये इससे बढ़कर आनन्दकी बात और क्या होगी कि दुर्योधन विपत्तिमें पड़कर तुम्हारे बाहुबलके भरोसे अपने जीवनकी रक्षा करना चाहता है?
kiṃ cāpy adhikam etasmād yad āpannaḥ suyodhanaḥ | tvad-bāhu-balam āśritya jīvitaṃ parimārgate ||
แล้วจะมีความยินดีใดใหญ่ไปกว่านี้เล่า—เมื่อสุโยธนะผู้ตกอยู่ในหายนะ กลับมาขออาศัยกำลังแขนของพวกเจ้าเพื่อรักษาชีวิตของตน?
वैशम्पायन उवाच
True strength is shown when it becomes a refuge: even an enemy in distress may seek protection, and granting safety (or being worthy of being sought) is presented as a higher honor than mere victory.
Vaiśampāyana remarks that Suyodhana (Duryodhana), having met with misfortune, is now trying to save his life by relying on the listener’s arm-strength—i.e., seeking protection and support from a powerful warrior.
