Kaurava Court Hears of the Pāṇḍavas’ Forest Hardship (वैचित्रवीर्यवंशीयस्य राज्ञः करुणाविचारः)
मार्कण्डेय उवाच इन्द्रस्तस्या वच: श्रुत्वा दु:खितो5चिन्तयद् भृशम् । अस्या देव्या: पतिर्नास्ति यादृशं सम्प्रभाषते,मार्कण्डेयजी कहते हैं--राजन्! देवसेनाकी बात सुनकर इन्द्र अत्यन्त दुःखी हो सोचने लगे “इस देवीको जैसा यह बता रही है, वैसा पति मिलना सम्भव नहीं जान पड़ता”
mārkaṇḍeya uvāca | indras tasyā vacaḥ śrutvā duḥkhito 'cintayad bhṛśam | asyā devyāḥ patir nāsti yādṛśaṃ samprabhāṣate |
มารกัณฑेयกล่าวว่า ครั้นอินทร์ได้ฟังถ้อยคำนั้น ก็เศร้าโศกยิ่งนักและครุ่นคิดอย่างหนักว่า “สำหรับเทวีองค์นี้ ดูประหนึ่งไม่มีสามีผู้ใดมีอยู่จริงที่จะเสมอด้วยสิ่งที่นางกล่าวเรียกร้อง”
