Adhyāya 208: Aṅgirasī-kanyāḥ

वेदस्योपनिषत्‌ सत्यं सत्यस्योपनिषद्‌ दम: । दमस्योपनिषत्‌ त्याग: शिष्टाचारेषु नित्यदा,वेदका सार है सत्य, सत्यका सार है इन्द्रिय-संयम और इन्द्रिय-सयंमका सार है त्याग। यह त्याग शिष्ट पुरुषोंके आचारमें सदा विद्यमान रहता है

vedasyopaniṣat satyaṃ satyasyopaniṣad damaḥ | damasyopaniṣat tyāgaḥ śiṣṭācāreṣu nityadā ||

แก่นของพระเวทคือสัจจะ; แก่นของสัจจะคือทมะ—การสำรวมอินทรีย์; และแก่นของทมะคือการสละ (ตยาคะ) การสละเช่นนี้มีอยู่เป็นนิตย์ในจรรยาของศิษฏะ
