वैशम्पायन उवाच
Merit and inner steadiness grow when disciplined practice is joined with purifying conduct—especially austerity, ritual cleanliness, and generosity—performed in the company of the virtuous. The verse frames “yoga” as an ethical-spiritual observance completed through right action.
The narrator reports that the Pāṇḍavas, accompanied by eminent ascetics, collectively carried out and completed an excellent religious discipline—marked by acts like bathing and charitable giving—thereby making the observance fully successful.
